Since Derek was orphaned in December, his little face has gone viral – and now local tourism chiefs are offering fans the chance to get up close
Cute critters are just asking for a cuddle – and now, thanks to the competition of a lifetime, you can offer your services.
Derek the wombat is the critter in question, and the little guy is fiercely in need of some love and affection.
That’s why there’s a competition to send the winner to Tasmania’s Flinders Island where you’ll get to wrap your arms around a the little one.
The mellow marsupial, who shot to fame after he lost his mum in December when she was reportedly killed in a car collision, is being raised by Kate Mooney, who’s also known as the ‘Wombat Lady of Flinders Island’, says UPI .
Now they’re seeking a Chief Wombat Cuddler for three days – although it’s an unpaid position.
The successful applicant and a friend will be sent on an all-expenses-paid trip the island, where they’ll also get to enjoy the local sights.
Unfortunately, you can only enter if you’re an Australian citizen, closing date April 16.
“Non-cuddlers need not apply,” the tourism website states.
